Student Arts Education

Gallery sales and donations enable DAC to give back to the community.

Middle School Art Project: Started in 2012, M.S.A.P. provides hands-on art instruction to local middle school students. These classes provide exposure to various art skills and media that otherwise, the students would not have. Some of these students find that art is the door to their future goals.

High School Scholarship Program: Since 1965 the Desert Art Center has funded over 150 scholarships to graduating seniors from Valley high schools. These art students use the scholarship to pursue higher education in an art or design-related field at a university or college of their choice.

High School Student Art Show: Once a year, the Center provides an opportunity for local high school students to display their artwork in a professional gallery. The show is juried and awards are given. The show recognizes the skills of these young artists, and demonstrates the value of art as an avenue of personal expression.

Art Supply Grants to Teachers: The Center offers a limited number of grants to art teachers whose budgets for supplies limit the scope of the art curricula in public schools. The significance of these grants is well documented by both teacher and student letters of thanks.
