ART Where U R

The Desert Art Center (DAC) has received funding from The Community Foundation to share art teacher talent and resources with eastern Coachella Valley artists and art organizations.  The project called ART WHERE U R, is a partnership venture that will support art classes in three east valley communities.

Community development artist and DAC member, Stacey Campbell, will work with artists and art organizations in rural desert locations to identify opportunities to develop local talent.  Campbell will be facilitating art engagement activities such as classes, community art events and other networking so that emerging artists in communities like Mecca, Thermal, Indio and Coachella can share in the passion and skills of DAC artist/teachers.

ART WHERE U R increases opportunities for artists to develop and share their art with the wider Coachella Valley community. This year celebrates DAC’s 65th year of promoting and exhibiting the work of talented artist members who staff the gallery.  DAC is a not-for-profit, community service organization that produces six shows per season with proceeds from art sales going towards high school scholarships, small grants to public art teachers, dedicated show for high school art students and classes for middle school students.   DAC plays a critical role in ensuring art-related experiences are available to young people since public school art budgets have been slashed, and in some cases, eliminated.
ART WHERE U R is made possible in part by a grant from The Community Foundation Strengthening Inland Southern California through Philanthropy.
