Program for 2017-2018 Season

Since 1965, each year in the spring, the Desert Art Center has awarded several scholarships to high school seniors. These scholarships help provide financial assistance for their pursuit of an art or design related degree at an art school, college or university.

The Desert Art Center of Coachella Valley is now soliciting applications from high school seniors for the annual scholarship awards program. Candidates must be continuing their art or design education by enrolling in a visual arts program in a university, college, community college or art school.

Students must submit a completed application, a brief statement about themselves, their educational goals, along with at least two pieces of their artwork and including a letter of recommendation from their art teacher. Submissions must be delivered to the Desert Art Center by Friday, March 23, 2018 between 10:00am and 4:00pm. The jury will make their selections Saturday, March 24, 2018. Friday, April 13, 2018, at 6:30 a Dessert Reception and Awards Presentations honoring the scholarship winners will be held at the Desert Art Center auditorium. The Main Gallery will be open with the High School Student Art Show in the Small gallery at 5:30. This years reception will honor art show students and all scholarship applicants. Parents, families, teachers, friends and all participants are invited.

  • All art work must be ready for hanging and 3D work show ready.
  • All artwork must be picked up after the reception and presentations.
  • Note: The applications may duplicated.
  • Applicants will be notified by email and a follow up letter.
