Artist Statement

I am a photographer by training, but most often a mixed media artist. I love transforming photos by scratching, painting, and cutting them; plus alternative processes, such as solarization, cyanotype/blueprint, and Polaroid transfer. I often layer a high-contrast photo over a painted background to create an organic, vibrant, expressionism effect.

In addition to the Desert Art Center, you can find my work at the California Welcome Center in Yucca Valley, just outside Joshua Tree National Park.

Desert Art Center has served as a creative hub in Palm Springs since 1950. Located in the historic Frances Stevens School at the gateway to the Uptown Design District, we offer exhibits, art education, and community outreach programs to support artists of all ages and levels.
