A Talk with Bernard Leibov

  • 11/16/2017
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Auditorium DAC

Please join us for an evening with Bernard Leibov as he talks about the impact that the unique hi-desert environment has on BoxoPROJECTS and himself; describing the program and highlighting some of their projects. Bernard will also talk about the Joshua Treenial, its roots and growth, how the community has been built around these initiatives and the impact they have had.  Lastly, he will share some thoughts about the future of both these ventures and the role of contemporary arts in the region going forward.

Bernard Leibov is the Founder and Director of BoxoPROJECTS, a residency and programming initiative based in Joshua Tree, CA. He is also co-founder and co-curator of the Joshua Treenial. Prior to moving to California, Bernard was Deputy Director of Judd Foundation in New York and Marfa. He also operated a non-traditional gallery space in New York City which featured artists from Joshua Tree and other non-urban areas. Bernard has a background in brand strategy as well as finance and has served on the Board of Joshua Tree Chamber of Commerce.

Presentation will be followed by a Q&A.

Presented in partnership with Palm Springs Public Arts Commission

Light refreshments will be served.
