First Featured Artist of the Season:
Opening Reception in the Main Gallery
October 4, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
With the launch of the new season, this reception honors the opening of a new show by the Desert Art Center juried gallery members as well as the first featured artist, Diane Morgan.
Diane is an award-winning artist, who specializes in watercolors and oil, was born in Detroit and, as a college student, had initially intended to have a career as an interpreter for the U.N., specializing in French and Russian. But the call of art took her in a different direction. After a career in advertising and as the Public Art Administrator for the city of Palm Springs, Diane now is a full-time artist. Her work has been featured in American Art Collector, International Artist, Southwest Art, Sunset Magazine, Palm Springs Life and American Artist, among others. Her specialty is large florals, although she also loves to paint bees, to spread the word about the bee crisis. She currently teaches four to six art classes per week at Palm Springs area art centers and private clubs. Her love of the desert is ever present. “The native plants and the beautiful clouds and sunsets make me feel like I’m on vacation every day,” she says. “I carry a camera with me at all times so that I never miss a shot at what could be my next favorite painting.” Be sure to come see Diane’s work in the Small Gallery; opening reception will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 4.
