Solderless Wire Weaving for Jewelry Making Workshop

Learn to make gorgeous wire jewelry using a very simple braiding technique. No heat or soldering is required. Even if you’ve never made jewelry or worked with wire before, you’ll be amazed at how fast and versatile this technique is.

We’ll start by making woven earrings in this workshop while also demonstrating how applicable the technique is to making all manner of jewelry including bracelets and necklaces.

 Examples and demonstrations will show how to easily alter the technique and incorporate beads, etc. into your jewelry.

Various types of wire will be discussed and available for your use including fine and sterling silvers, enamel coated colored wire, aluminum wire and even electronic wire. Some information about patinas will also be given.

All supplies and tools will provided with a $10 supplies fee. Workshop fee is $40.

Lisa Van Herik is a seasoned metalsmith/jeweler. She’s taught woven wire jewelry making for many years at UCSD and multiple venues in the US.

She is the author of her first book, Make Wire Beads, as well as her second book, Fiberwire Beads and Jewelry. Having adapted some weaving techniques to fiber wall art, Lisa is also a featured artist in two coffee table books: Artistry in Fiber: Wearable Art and Artistry in Fiber: Wall Art.
