The Artists’ Community”

Our notions of what makes a viable artists’ community today is colored by ideals established in history. The community in Paris around the turn of the 20th century still resonates as creative, romantic, and stimulating. Then, the New York art scene in the 50s and 60s gave credence to the “bad boy” image for artists, art as a business community, and The United States as the center of the art universe. How do these ideas influence how we see ourselves as a community of artists today?
