“Exploring your artistic path from inspiration, to conceptualization, to execution”

I came up with the idea for the "ICE" class while battling cancer last year. I couldn't work, but I could still think. A year of "thinking, not making," was a time of great revelation and developing a better understanding of the path from inspiration to a finished work of art.

Biography

Patrick Blythe began painting in 1970 after studying art and photography at Lakeland College. In 1972 he began working in various metals, with hammer, forge and welder. Patrick’s artwork combines the skills learned while working in factories and farms with his passion for nature, a contemplative appreciation of our desert environment, and an intense desire to express personal experiences. His award-winning sculptures can be found in collections around the world. This fall an 8’ tall bronze version of his sculpture “Harvest” will be installed on El Paseo in Palm Desert.
Patrick serves as a Docent for the Palm Springs Art Museum and The City of Palm Desert Art in Public Places program. He is highly sought after as a lecturer and teacher in studios and schools across the US and overseas. He is a popular instructor for the Osher Institute at CSU San Bernardino, and this fall he will open a new teaching studio at the Coachella Valley Arts Center in Indio. The studio will welcome artists and instructors from around the world for classes, retreats, and residency programs.
