High School Art Programs
At the Desert Art Center, we are passionate about supporting our budding artists. We offer two fantastic programs designed to nurture and showcase the talents of high school students in the Palm Springs School District. HSAP
Launching in Fall 2024, our reimagined High School Art Program offers a comprehensive curriculum that spans three four-week classes, each focusing on a different essential subject for portfolio building. This program is tailor-made for students who are passionate about pursuing a professional career in the arts. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students will refine their skills, explore various mediums, and create a robust portfolio that showcases their unique artistic voice.
High School Art Show
Each year, the Desert Art Center proudly hosts the High School Art Show, a celebration of the incredible talent within the Palm Springs School District. This event features a stunning exhibition of student work and awards a total of $10,000 in prizes to participating high schools:
- 1st Place: $5,000
- 2nd Place: $2,500
- 3rd Place: $1,000
- Participation Prize: $500 for all other schools
These prizes, distributed in the form of art supplies, directly benefit the high school art departments, fostering creativity and ensuring that our students have the resources they need to thrive. Join us at the end of each school season to witness the remarkable artistry of our high school students and support their journey towards a brighter future in the arts.
